About Me

My name is Troy, and I’m a grown-ass man who lives his life around his passions.

I’ve been a professional product reviewer for 26 years and I’ve been playing pool for 40.

I’m passionate about pool and helping others.

About High I Cue

My site here, High I Cue, will house and document my journey as I pick up the stick and take it a bit more seriously. “High I Cue” is a multi-play on words. I’m a smart stoner. High and Humble.

High I Cue will celebrate the culture and evolution of pool while serving the community of players with helpful content and resources.

My Pool History

I grew up with a pool table in the basement and a family of semi-serious pool players. My brother and Father were both top-tier league players, well known throughout the county of our small midwestern town.

I learned to play as a kid, but never took it seriously because no matter how good I got – I’d still always lose. “Rack Boy” was basically my nickname growing up.

When I turned 21, I entered the local bar scene and started playing pool with strangers. This made me realize that I was better than I thought.

I was a bowling and pool rat for several years, but I focused on bowling. In 1999 I started my career as an internet product reviewer – choosing bowling balls. In 2025 I return to pool.

From the 2000s to 2017 I played pool regularly. The .com I worked for had a pool table and I’d often play daily. I kept a couple nice cues in my office and reigned champion on the monthly game day whenenever it was Pool.

In 2019 my mother passed away and my way of mourning involved cleaning off my fathers pool table. It reunited my siblings, and my own love for the game.

Six years later, my brother, sister, and nephew gather weekly to practice pool on my Dad’s old pool table. On a recent visit I realized how much passion I have for the pool.

I don’t currently have a table at home and will need to use a pool hall to practice and create content.
